My Fur Family

After visiting the NEMO Humane Society my eyes were open to a whole new world. I fell in love with every cat and dog in the place. Seriously, they’re all so perfect in their own way.

For about two weeks I was in a bind. I really want to help the animals in the shelter find a home, but I cannot possibly take them all! Right now I do not have time to volunteer because of work and renovating my house, so I decided to adopt a fur baby. Her name is Remie and she is a perfect addition to my family. She is a 2 year old pup who loves to jump and play.

I already have two cats that I adopted from the General Vet Clinic in Monroe City. Their names are Reese and Nelly. My mom adopted their brothers and mommy. They changed my life and opened my heart. Now, I work harder to help animals throughout the world.

I have since decided to go cruelty-free in all products I use throughout my home. I couldn’t possibly afford to throw out each product so I am using them until they’re gone and replacing them with natural, cruelty-free brands. Some of my favorites are Native Deodorant, Andalou Naturals, Tarte, and Elf. Check out their products by clicking on their names!!

Tim has a ball python that will soon move into our home. Snakes are my biggest fear but Homie is an exception. I’d still prefer to never touch him but I enjoy watching him in his tank and watching when Tim gets him out. He has a loving personality. Tim can put him in his shirt sleeve and Homie will just hangout and eventually come out of the opposite sleeve! He is pretty harmless unless he accidentally thinks your hand is food. He has only bitten Tim once. He quickly realized that Tim wasn’t food and let go.

I have two major rules to owning pets, get them fixed and love them unconditionally.

There are so many animals in this world that are in need of homes. We should all fix our pets to avoid sheltering animals. Having multiple litters of kittens or pups is completely uncalled for. The NEMO shetler is plum full of dogs and cats that need homes! They do not need anymore animals in there to take care of. This is also the reason I choose to adopt and not shop. There are so many animals in the world that you could bring home and love for FREE! They may not be purebred but they are perfect and easily loveable!

When getting a pet you must be prepared for a major commitment and unconditional love. They’re not just toys for a couple weeks that you throw away. They are your babies, treat them as such. Just feeding animals and providing them with a home is not enough. You must make sure they’re up to date on their shots, play with them, shelter them inside when it is too hot or too cold, and tend to their other medical needs.

I hope you all consider doing your part to help the fur babies of the world.

TGIF!
