Wow! What a time in our world. People are flooding the grocery stores to buy all the toilet paper, we’re social distancing and Government shutdowns are happening all over. All because of COVID19, a virus that is spreading like wildfire across the globe. So, let’s throw in my very first pregnancy right smack in the middle of it!
As you could imagine my anxiety is extremely high. There are so many unknowns about COVID19, especially how it plays a roll in pregnancy and newborns. Anytime now I will be delivering a baby in a hospital full of overworked healthcare professionals and a whole bunch of sick people. There are no visitors allowed. Some hospitals are going to the extent of not allowing husbands/significant others to be with laboring mothers. That alone terrifies me. Tim is my rock. I’m not sure I can do this without him.
As of now our hospital will allow Tim and one other support person to be there, but no visitors. I’m really sad (but trying to stay positive) about not being able to share Ollie with my friends and family after he is born.
I know there are many people going through some seriously tough times right now. With businesses being shut down many are without pay, some are losing family members to the virus, or are scared to death because they have it. I pray for those situations and pray that my situation remains as is.
My only hope is that the world returns to normal sooner rather than later. A place where there is more than enough toilet paper for my family, nobody is being quarantined, the stock market isn’t crashing, and there is no realistic fears of an apocalypse. A place where I can show my Ollie off to the world.
Please stay home as much as possible, wash your hands and be considerate in these crazy times. Thank you to the healthcare professionals who are on the front lines of this pandemic. Thank you to those ‘essential business’ employees that are still clocking in and out everyday, dealing with the panic. Thank you to all of the school administration who are making difficult decisions in completely uncharted territory. Finally, thank you to our government officials who, I truly believe, are doing what they can to protect our nation.
