5 Months of Hives

As most of you know, I have had hives for 5 months straight. They started in the first week of January after a minor concussion. I have seen many doctors, ran many test, tried every home remedy and medicine known. All test came back normal, including autoimmune diseases, and no medicines or remedies have really helped much. I do receive the Xolair infusion every four weeks. So far the side effects have done more damage than the shot has done good. They say there is a 100% success rate, so I am hopeful. It will just take time and some Jesus.

Life has been tough since I last blogged. I have been very depressed and find it hard to get up in the morning some days. I am so overwhelmed with all I have going on along with suffering from hives. Fixing up my house, working, and managing with normal life stuff is proven to be a difficult task. I find that I am often disappointed in myself for little things. I feel like I’ve let down my family, friends, coworkers, and myself. I am disappointed that I have taken weeks off of blogging. I know many of you were looking forward to reading what I’ve got to say. I am sorry.

I plan write more often, along with working on many other goals. The tricky thing is, plans are just plans until you put the plans in action.

I’d like to take some time to write about my life other than hives. Yesterday Tim and I celebrated two years of dating. We have had quite a great time in our life together and I am positive we will continue to have fun. We are currently working on our first home.

I bought a 1000 square foot house that was way outdated. Wood paneling walls, hideous carpet, and many other issues. We are now at the stage of drywall and completing the bathroom.

My mom, who is one hard working woman, has completely dedicated herself to our bathroom. She completely gutted it and started from scratch. She’s tiling our walls and floor herself, as well as installing our bathtub, shower, toilet, and sink/vanity. She is a woman of many talents.

My dad is the Mud Man. He had mudded and sanded all of our drywall throughout the whole entire house. He works almost everyday in some seriously awful dust. It’s a long process but he has really done an excellent job. Mudding is not easy.

Tim has proven to be quite the carpenter. He has helped install new doors, lights, and even taken out a wall in the living room. He was the boss in hanging drywall and directed us very well, our walls look great.

I have been working on sanding and painting door frames, closets, windows, and other small things. We’re so close to moving in, yet it seems so far away!

I’d like to say thank you to Tims boss, Darren, who has loaned us his tools and expertise, Lakian, who has helped various times with sanding and painting, Jay and Austin, who helped hang drywall, my parents and siblings, they’ve each spent some time helping out, Tims family, who have gone the extra mile in love and support, and Tim, who not only works hard but also puts up with me daily.  Thank you all for the work and time you have invested into my goals. Without you, this would not be possible.

See ya’ soon!

  1. It’s so good to hear about your house, Jaycee. That is a labor of love and someday you’ll look back and wonder how you did it all. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Be proud of all you’ve accomplished in spite of your discomfort. Praying for you and thinking of you daily. Just don’t give up, it’ll get better than ever!
